Participate in National Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2013

National Eating Disorders Awareness week is here. This week is a collective effort of volunteers, including eating disorder professionals, health care providers, students, educators, families and individuals. The goal is to raise awareness of the dangers surrounding eating disorders and the need for early intervention and appropriate treatment.

This year’s theme is “Everybody Knows Somebody.” At Timberline Knolls, we are gearing up for several activities and events throughout the country for National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, which includes support and participation in several NEDA walks.

We also have many special activities scheduled on campus for our residents. These include the opportunity to sign a declaration of independence from eating disorders; participation in a candlelight vigil; and viewing of the play Normal. On Friday, March 1 we will have a closing ceremony and an alumnae panel.

As we celebrate National Eating Disorders Awareness Week on campus, we also encourage everyone to do just one thing to help raise awareness and provide accurate information about eating disorders.

Only through awareness and education can we hope to prevent eating disorders. Please help us to make prevention possible.
