At Timberline Knolls, we help each woman re-discover and harness her strengths in five core aspects of the self.

Treatment Outcomes - Real Life Change

At Timberline Knolls, we build upon strengths and potential, working with residents to create individualized treatment plans. At the time a resident is admitted, she undergoes a thorough, multi-disciplinary assessment including a structured psychiatric evaluation by her psychiatrist. From the initial evaluation, an individual resident Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF) level is determined using the GAF scale. Based on an evaluation of the resident's recovery progress, a new GAF scale functional level is determined at discharge. These scores provide evidence of the effectiveness of treatment at Timberline Knolls.

Timberline Knolls has been awarded the Gold Seal of Approval by the Joint Commission, the nation's leading health care accrediting organization. The following graphs show the focus provided to the quality of care and to the treatment experience at Timberline Knolls.

Timberline Knolls Residents: Functional Improvement, 2006-2011

* Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF) Scale 0-100

Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF) Scale

Based on the Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF) scale, residents at Timberline Knolls usually enter treatment at a level of "impairment" and discharge with "moderate symptoms" that can be addressed in step-down services, including outpatient treatment and support groups. This improvement is indicated by GAF scores averaging from 33.5 at the point of admission to 52.18 when discharge occurs.

* Axis V: Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF) is for reporting the clinician's judgment of the individual's overall level of functioning. The information is useful in planning treatment and measuring its impact, and in predicting outcome. The reporting of overall functioning on Axis V can be done using the Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF) Scale. The GAF Scale may be particularly useful in tracking the clinical progress of individuals in global terms, using a single measure.
