What Levels of Care Are Available for Treating Anxiety?
Explore the best treatment options and types of effective care for anxiety
When you’re researching the best treatment options for anxiety, it’s important to understand the various types and levels of care that are available. Finding the anxiety treatment modalities that are best for you is a matter of identifying the treatment provider that can offer the services that best fit your unique needs.
One of the many benefits of entering the Timberline Knolls anxiety treatment program is that we will work with you to determine which modalities, treatment options, and elements of effective care are optimal for you.
At Timberline Knolls, there’s no such thing as one-size-fits-all treatment. Prior to starting treatment with us, you’ll complete a thorough assessment. The results of this assessment will form the foundation of your personalized anxiety treatment plan.
Some women and girls who receive anxiety treatment at Timberline Knolls participate in multiple levels of care, while others complete care at one level and then transition out of treatment. As with all elements of your experience with us, the level or levels of care that are included in your customized anxiety treatment plan will be determined solely by what’s best for you.
The most intensive level of care at Timberline Knolls is our residential anxiety treatment program. At the residential level, you will live at our center and receive round-the-clock care and monitoring. The residential level provides the opportunity to step away from the pressures and distractions of daily life and focus completely on your health and recovery.
Our residential anxiety treatment services include a variety of therapeutic activities and educational opportunities. You may participate in individual, group, family, expressive, and recreational therapies. You’ll gain essential insights into the disease of anxiety and learn the skills and strategies that will empower you to manage your symptoms and pursue a healthier future.
The amount of time that you remain in our residential anxiety treatment program will be determined by your needs and progress.
Some women and girls transition out of care after they have completed our anxiety treatment program. Others move to a less intensive level of care so that they can continue to receive structured support as they resume their independent lifestyle.
One option after completing residential care for anxiety is to transfer into our partial hospitalization program, or PHP. This level of care may also be optimal for women whose struggles with anxiety aren’t severe enough to warrant residential treatment, but who need more structured programming than can be provided at less intensive levels.
At Timberline Knolls, PHP is open to adult women age 18 and above. While you’re in PHP with us, you will participate in six hours of treatment per day, five days per week. Group therapy is the main means of care for women who are receiving anxiety treatment at the PHP level with us. While you’re not participating in PHP services, you can return home or to an alternative supported living environment.
The next level of care for women who are struggling with anxiety is intensive outpatient programming, or IOP. As with PHP, IOP does not include a residential component. Frequency and duration of IOP services can vary among anxiety treatment centers. Typically, IOP care is provided from two to four days per week, with each treatment day consisting of about three hours of programming.
If your initial assessment reveals that you would be best served by an IOP, we will make the appropriate referral. If you can benefit from IOP treatment for anxiety after completing residential or PHP care with us, we’ll include a referral in your discharge plan.
To promote continued recovery from anxiety disorders, many women and girls seek treatment via traditional outpatient services. They also take part in anxiety support groups.
At the traditional outpatient level, you’ll most likely attend individual therapy sessions with a counselor, therapist, or other professional. Individual therapy sessions for anxiety can be scheduled at the frequency that best fits your schedule and meets your needs. As with IOP services, we can include referrals to traditional outpatient therapy in your discharge plan.
Support groups, including in-person gatherings and online meetings, offer ongoing connections with others who have struggled with anxiety. Your anxiety treatment team at Timberline Knolls can connect you with anxiety support groups that may be most beneficial for you.
What Is Effective Treatment for Anxiety?
Understand the most effective treatment for anxiety
There is no such thing as one most effective anxiety treatment program. What’s most important is finding the program that offers the treatment options that are right for you.
The symptoms of anxiety disorders can vary in nature and severity from person to person. Also, a host of other factors, such as your treatment history, previous struggles with mental or behavioral health challenges, and presence of any current co-occurring disorders, must be addressed in any effective anxiety treatment program.
In other words, to best equip you for long-term recovery, an anxiety treatment center must be prepared to work with you to identify your needs, and then develop the customized plan with the treatment options that will help you achieve your goals. At Timberline Knolls, this is exactly what happens.
When you choose Timberline Knolls, we’ll determine which services you need and identify effective care that will best prepare you for long-term success. If we provide the anxiety treatment that you need, we’ll develop a personalized plan just for you. If we don’t offer the types or levels of anxiety treatment services that are right for you, we’ll make the appropriate referrals.
At Timberline Knolls, our sole goal is to ensure that you receive the most effective care for anxiety so that you can live the healthy and satisfying life that you deserve. To learn more, contact us at your earliest convenience.
