Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center provides care for women and girls who are struggling with anxiety. Timberline Knolls delivers compassionate, comprehensive treatment featuring the best therapies to treat anxiety.
Individual therapy features one-on-one support to help you overcome anxiety
Every woman or girl who participates in anxiety treatment at Timberline Knolls will have the opportunity to take part in individual teherapy sessions on a regular basis. These one-on-one conversations with an experienced professional can be optimal environments in which to process successes or setbacks, get answers to personal questions about your treatment experience, and address issues that you may be hesitant to discuss in a group setting.
Group therapy helps you connect others who are in treatment for anxiety
During your time in our anxiety treatment program, you will have the opportunity to take part in several types of group therapy. Educational groups can increase your understanding of anxiety treatment and recovery, while therapeutic groups can help you process your experiences and make the lifestyle changes that will empower you to manage your anxiety symptoms and pursue a healthier future.
Groups offer a host of benefits. Under the supervision of experienced professionals, groups are safe and supportive forums in which you can share your thoughts and insights, learn from the experiences of others, and form beneficial relationships with other women and girls who are receiving comprehensive treatment for anxiety. Groups are also ideal environments in which to practice positive communication and conflict-resolution skills.
Each treatment day at Timberline Knolls typically features multiple types of groups.
Family therapy addresses how anxiety has impacted loved ones
When you struggle with anxiety, your friends and family members may also be impacted. At Timberline Knolls, we understand this reality, and we also appreciate the important role that loved ones can play during and after your treatment for anxiety. For these reasons, we offer family sessions for women and girls who are participating in our anxiety treatment program.
During family therapy, you and your loved ones will have the opportunity to process how you have all been affected by your struggle with anxiety. You’ll learn about the disease of anxiety, the anxiety treatment process, and how best to support each other following your time in treatment. Family therapy can also help you to identify and address any interpersonal conflicts or other rifts that have been preventing you all from functioning as a healthier and more unified unit.
Experiential therapies are dynamic methods for treating anxiety
When you’re living with an anxiety disorder, you may be compelled to address your emotions in a self-defeating manner. Expressive therapies during anxiety treatment can be safe and supportive outlets for you to process your feelings in more productive ways. Expressive therapies, which are also sometimes referred to as experiential therapies, can also help you develop more beneficial ways of dealing with stress or pressure.
During your time in the Timberline Knolls anxiety treatment program, a variety of expressive therapies may be included in your personalized plan. For example, many women and girls who completed our anxiety treatment program have benefited from yoga, meditation, art therapy, dance/movement therapy, and other expressive therapeutic activities.
The Timberline Knolls anxiety treatment program also offers a variety of recreational activities for women and girls who are receiving care for anxiety. Gardening, badminton, soccer, volleyball, basketball, and other similar activities are ideal ways to fill your leisure hours, engage your mind and body, and continue to heal physically and emotionally.
The expressive therapies, experiential therapies, and recreational activities that are included in our comprehensive anxiety treatment program can also help you develop new interests or hobbies that you can continue to pursue after you have completed your time with us.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT is an effective therapy for anxiety
Dialectical behavior therapy, which is commonly referred to as DBT, is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy that may be incorporated into your personalized anxiety treatment plan at Timberline Knolls. The principles of DBT can be implemented in both individual and group sessions.
The purpose of DBT is to promote positive outcomes in four key areas: mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT has helped many women and girls overcome feelings of guilt or shame, manage stress in healthier ways, make better decisions, and end self-defeating behavior patterns.
Improving your skills and abilities in each of these areas can be important steps in your effort to manage your symptoms and overcome anxiety.
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR therapy can help when anxiety is accompanied by trauma or PTSD
If an anxiety disorder is related to untreated trauma or posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), it is vital that this issue be addressed during a resident’s personalized anxiety treatment experience at Timberline Knolls.
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy can be extremely beneficial for women and girls who have been struggling in the aftermath of trauma. EMDR therapy is an integrative therapeutic approach that eases trauma-related distress. Among the many benefits of EMDR is that this type of therapy promotes healing in a much shorter period of time than had previously been achievable through other therapeutic approaches.
Medications to help overcome symptoms of anxiety and certain co-occurring disorders
Depending upon the nature and severity of your anxiety symptoms, as well as the presence of various co-occurring mental health disorders, you may benefit from having certain prescription medications included in your personalized anxiety treatment program at Timberline Knolls.
Some medications may be best used on a short-term basis, with the objective of helping you achieve a level of stabilization during your time in treatment. Others are designed for long-term use, to help you manage your anxiety symptoms during the post-treatment phases of your recovery.
As with all treatment-related matters at Timberline Knolls, you will be involved in any decisions to incorporate pharmacologic therapy into your anxiety treatment plan. If you and your treatment team determine that pharmacologic therapy is optimal for you, you’ll collaborate with members of our psychiatric staff to ensure that you receive the most beneficial medications at the dosage levels that are best for you.
