Treatment Programs for Women & Girls

Timberline Knolls offers individualized and age-appropriate services for girls and women whose lives have been impacted by eating disorderstrauma, substance use disorders, mood disorders, and other mental health concerns. When you choose to participate in one of Timberline Knolls’ programs, you will benefit from our support within a safe and inclusive environment.

Depending on your unique strengths, needs, and goals, your programming may include the following elements:

  • Basic medical care: Noninvasive services to promote stability and support, provided by medical doctor or nurse practitioner
  • Individual therapy: Typically two sessions each week with a licensed therapist
  • Group therapy: Multiple daily groups, including psychoeducational and process groups, all led by experienced professionals
  • Family therapy: Usually one session per week, led by a licensed therapist

Age-Appropriate Programming

To ensure that each person receives the focused, age-appropriate programming that best addresses their needs, our residential services are provided in six lodges.

The lodge format provides a safe and supportive environment where women and girls can receive care alongside others within the same age group who have been experiencing similar challenges. Our lodges also promote the development of positive peer groups, which help our residents learn how to establish healthy interpersonal relationships and begin to trust others for friendship and support.

The typical length of stay in our residential program for adult women is about 33 days, while the typical length of stay for adolescent girls is about 40 days.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

In addition to residential programming, we also offer a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for adult women that includes on-campus housing options.

You may step down to our PHP after completing the residential program, or you may enter treatment directly at the PHP level. In PHP, you have the option of taking part in programming five days per week or seven days per week. The specific program details as they apply to each woman’s care are made on an individual basis according to what’s best for her.

TK Academy

To ensure that adolescent girls can make appropriate academic progress during their time in our residential program, our on-site TK Academy provides educational support services.

TK Academy is staffed by certified teachers who are specialists in English, math, science, and social studies. Our teachers have experience working with students of all learning levels from middle school through high school. These compassionate professionals are prepared to help young people who have been experiencing concerns such as school anxiety, school refusal, disorganization, and perfectionism.

Students remain enrolled in their home school districts while they’re in our residential program. The TK Academy staff collaborates with representatives from these districts, students’ parents or guardians, and our therapeutic teams to ensure that each girl receives superior, personalized educational services in a manner that reflects and supports her continued recovery

I stepped down from Timberline Knolls’ Residential program to their PHP with supportive housing.  PHP helped me be able to have long term recovery. Going into a grocery store and make meals with support was helpful. Also, being accountable with acting out on urges, I learned to ask for support.  With anxiety/ panic and going out in the world I learned how to navigate and how to move through a panic attack and not retreat to old behaviors.  Living in the supportive housing was a key factor to me recovery because I was supported by others and staff throughout the night. I would not have made it through the last 6 years of recovery without PHP relapsing and giving me tools and it really made a difference. I hope you take the opportunity to go to PHP at Timberline knolls after completing their residential program.
